How to mix Coral Essentials Primary Care Powders
We have three Primary Care powders in our range, Calcium Up, Carbonate Up and Magnesium Up.
Calcium Up
- Determine the amount (Litres) of Calcium water solution you require.
- Determine the strength (ppm) of the solution you require.
- Using the Coral Essentials Calcium Up Calculator below, enter in the above figures and the calculator will tell you exactly how much Calcium Up powder you require.
- Using your scales weigh out the amount of powder as given by the Calculator.
- Using a mixing vessel (bucket or other open top container) fill the vessel with 3/4 of the final water volume. For example if you want to make up 1L of solution place 750ml of RODI into the mixing vessel.
- Using a drill with a small paint mixer, or if you dont have a drill, use a mixing spoon to stir the water as you slowly add the Calcium Up powder to the water. Do not add it all at once, add slowly as you continue to stir allowing the powder to dissolve and mix through well. Also do not add the powder to the bottom of the dry mixing vessel and add water later as it is much harder to mix through and dissolve properly.
- Once all the product is completely stirred through and dissolved fill the mixing vessel with RODI water up to the required amount of solution as determined in Step 1.
- If you would like to add Trace Elements to the solution so it matches exactly our Coral Essentials pre-mixed Calcium + Trace solution then add the amount of Trace as detailed in the calculator below. If you add your Trace manually via drops then do not perform this step.
- Stir through thoroughly again.
- Fill your dosing container with the new solution.
Carbonate Up
- Determine the amount (Litres) of Carbonate (or Alkalinity) water solution you require.
- Determine the strength (ppm or dKH) of the solution you require.
- Using the Coral Essentials Carbonate Up Calculator below, enter in the above figures and the calculator will tell you exactly how much Carbonate Up powder you require.
- Using your scales weigh out the amount of powder as given by the Calculator.
- Using a mixing vessel (bucket or other open top container) fill the vessel with 3/4 of the final water volume. For example if you want to make up 1L of solution place 750ml of RODI into the mixing vessel.
- Using a drill with a small paint mixer, or if you dont have a drill, use a mixing spoon to stir the water as you slowly add the Carbonate Up powder to the water.
- If you would like to add Trace Elements to the solution so it matches exactly our Coral Essentials pre-mixed Carbonate + Trace solution then add the amount of Trace as detailed in the calculator below. If you add your Trace manually via drops then do not perform this step.
- Stir through thoroughly again.
- Fill your dosing container with the new solution.
Magnesium Up
- Determine the amount (Litres) of Magnesium water solution you require.
- Determine the strength (ppm) of the solution you require.
- Using the Coral Essentials Magneisum Up Calculator below, enter in the above figures and the calculator will tell you exactly how much Magnesium Chloride and Magnesium Sulphate powder you require.
- Using your scales weigh out the amount of each powder as given by the Calculator.
- Using a mixing vessel (bucket or other open top container) fill the vessel with 2/5 of the final water volume. For example if you want to make up 1L of solution place 400ml of RODI into the mixing vessel.
- Using a drill with a small paint mixer, or if you dont have a drill, use a mixing spoon to stir the water as you slowly add the Magnesium Chloride powder to the water. Do not add it all at once, add slowly as you continue to stir allowing the powder to dissolve and mix through well.
- Using another mixing vessel (bucket or other open top container) fill the vessel with 2/5 of the final water volume as above. This time slowly add the Magnesium Sulphate powder to the RODI water, stirring continuously. Do not add it all at once, add slowly as you continue to stir allowing the powder to dissolve and mix through well.
- Combine both the Magnesium Chloride and Magnesium Sulphate solutions together in the one container and top up with RODI water to the required amount of solution as determined in Step 1.
- The above 2 step mixing process is optimal for higher ppm concentration levels of Magnesium. If you prefer to quicken up the process you can mix both Magnesium Chloride and Magnesium Sulphate together in the one container. Place 4/5 of the required solution volume (determined in step 1) of RODI into a mixing vessel. Add the Magnesium Chloride slowly while mixing until dissolved then add the Magnesium Sulphate stirring until dissolved. Top up with RODI water to the total amount of solution you required as determined in step 1.
- If you would like to add Coral Power Potassium to the solution so it matches exactly our Coral Essentials pre-mixed Magnesium + Trace solution then add the amount of Potassium as detailed in the calculator below. If you add your Potassium manually via drops then do not perform this step.
- Stir through thoroughly again.
- Fill your dosing container with the new solution.
